The Athens Vein Center, is the first single office in the area of Athens devoted exclusively to phlebology practice.  We utilize many state of the art treatment modalities to treat veins of all sizes.  We have a special interest and expertise in diseases and disorders of the leg veins like varicose veins, spider veins, ulcers, swollen legs etc.  In our practice we involve advanced methods currently used in Europe and USA like sclerotherapy, ambulatory phlebectomy, ultrasound guided sclerotherapy in addition to classic surgical techniques of ligation and stripping of large varicose veins, using in 90% of cases local anesthesia.
    Most patients return home the same day as the procedure.

What is sclerotherapy?
      It is  the treatment of unsightly surface vessels or veins.  A solution is injected into the vein. The injected vein shrink, close-off and gradually disappear.  The solution used is totally safe with few allergic reactions reported.  No anesthetic is utilized.

Ambulatory phlebectomy-
     Is a technique that allows larger varicose veins to be removed, surgically,effectively and permanently in an out-patient basis, using local anesthesia.  Incisions are tiny and typically leave nearly imperceptible scars.

Ultra sound-guided sclerotherapy-
     With this technique sclero therapy is done while the doctor visually monitors the vein on an ultrasound screen.  This enables treatment of veins that cannot be seen because they are below the surface of the skin that would otherwise require surgical removal.

    All patients are instructed to walk a great deal in the days following each treatment. Bandages and support stockings are used for a few days to assist in healing and reduce any mild discomfort which may occur during treatment.

What about the results-
     With the evaluation and treatment methods available today, spider and varicose veins can be treated at a level of effectiveness and safety previously unattainable.
